Educational Meeting

Monthly educational meetings are held the second Thursday of the month in September, October, November, and May.  We also host a Saturday workshop in March, and our annual daytime Margaret L. King lecture in April. There are no educational meetings the remaining months of the year.

Continuing professional education is available free to SEMDA members at each meeting, and at a cost of $10.00/CPEU for non-members.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, educational meetings will be VIRTUAL for the 2023 year.

Must be registered prior to meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Join University of Michigan’s Digestive Nutrition and Lifestyle Program Annual Conference

Date: August 2nd to 4th, 2023
Location: Via Zoom or in person in Ann Arbor, MI

Food: The Main Course to Digestive Health

This is a 3-day specialized nutrition lecture series for RD’s and health professionals with an interest in caring for patients with GI diseases. This conference is offered yearly by expert faculty and dietitians from the University of Michigan and other institutions. It includes didactic lectures and panel discussions on key gastrointestinal diseases and disorders and state of the art talks addressing hot topics.

Beaumont Diabetes Meal Program

60 years or old diabetics may qualify to participate in a research study evaluating a medically tailored meal pilot program being offered from Beaumont Hospital, Troy funded by a grant provided by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.

What the program includes: Diabetic friendly, frozen meals delivered right to your door at no cost.

Cooking Matters Volunteer Opportunity

Love to Cook? Love to help others? We need volunteer Culinary Instructors, Nutrition Instructors, and Classroom Assistants to teach a Cooking Matters nutrition-based cooking class to those at risk of hunger! Classes meet for 2 hours once a week for 6 weeks. We provide curricula, kitchen supplies, and staff support. Many classes to choose from in Wayne, Oakland, Monroe, Macomb, and Livingston counties. FREE: Eating Disorder Educational Program – CEU sponsor

Exciting program sponsored by Sanford House Eating Disorders and Substance Use Treatment Center, and the University of Michigan along with Dietitians of West Michigan, taking place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 in Midland, Michigan from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Beverly Price will be speaking as the lead off on the Continuum of Care for Eating Disorders.
For Registered Dietitians, this program is accepted for 6.0 CEU (CDR now offers CEU for RDs and DTRs through IPCE). This training meets these requirements through Sanford House.
