2023 Calendar of Events
Educational Meeting
Monthly educational meetings are held the second Thursday of the month in September, October, November, and May. We also host a Saturday workshop in March, and our annual daytime Margaret L. King lecture in April. There are no educational meetings the remaining months of the year.
Continuing professional education is available free to SEMDA members at each meeting, and at a cost of $10.00/CPEU for non-members.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, educational meetings will be VIRTUAL for the 2023 year.
October Education Meeting
Date: Thursday, October 13th at 7pm
Topic: 2022 ACEND standards for dietetic education and how to meet those requirements using simulation (ex: blood pressure measurements, NG placement, swallow studies, etc.)

2023 SEMDA Scholarship
Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Southeastern Michigan Dietetic Association scholarships. Log-in and check out the ‘Members’ page for guidelines and application form. Good luck to all who apply!
Beaumont Diabetes Meal Program
60 years or old diabetics may qualify to participate in a research study evaluating a medically tailored meal pilot program being offered from Beaumont Hospital, Troy funded by a grant provided by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.
What the program includes: Diabetic friendly, frozen meals delivered right to your door at no cost.
Cooking Matters Volunteer Opportunity
Love to Cook? Love to help others? We need volunteer Culinary Instructors, Nutrition Instructors, and Classroom Assistants to teach a Cooking Matters nutrition-based cooking class to those at risk of hunger! Classes meet for 2 hours once a week for 6 weeks. We provide curricula, kitchen supplies, and staff support. Many classes to choose from in Wayne, Oakland, Monroe, Macomb, and Livingston counties.
