Community Research RD - Pediatric Obesity
Full-time research assistant (research dietitian) position available in the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. Registered Dietitian (RD) credentials and bachelor’s degree in nutrition or health related field required. Experience working with children and families and managing nutrition related diseases also required. A master’s degree and experience with health education are preferred. Duties are to provide in-home and clinic-based family weight loss sessions to adolescents with primary obesity and their parents living in the City of Detroit, create and implement educational nutrition modules for staff, develop educational outreach materials, provide nutrition feedback and support for community health workers on a weekly basis, act as a community liaison for health and nutrition related activities (health fairs, cooking classes) and complete research related tasks. Position also involves the application of Motivation Interviewing techniques to position duties. Training provided. The position involves non-traditional hours and local travel. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are essential. This position is grant funded and limited to 3 years with a mid-October start date. Salary is $36,000 - $40,000 + benefits and tuition assistance package.
