Nutritionist Provide nutritional education and suggested dietary modification to patients. Provide in-service and nutrition education to staff. Assesses the nutrition status of patients through the integration of anthropometrics, biochemical, and clinical and dietary information. Creates and completes care plan to address and identify nutritional problems, utilizing both problem oriented protocols and other procedures including referrals to other providers, programs or other agencies as indicated. Develops and updates patient education material for use by the patients. Assists community groups and organizations in planning and implementing nutrition related activities. Nutrition Educator Coordinator
The Greening of Detroit is seeking a full-time Nutrition Education Coordinator to oversee the implementation of nutrition education programming for our Urban Agriculture Department. This includes programming in partnership with K-8th grade schools at two urban farms managed by Greening of Detroit staff as well as nutrition education support for community and school gardens serving youth in the Garden Resource Program. The Nutrition Education Coordinator will also work closely with our Urban Agriculture Education Coordinator to plan and implement cooking and food preservation workshops for adults and families as well as with our Farmers’ Market Coordinator to develop recipes and literature for distribution with Grown In Detroit produce. This position requires an individual with a strong interest in nutrition and community-driven food systems, the experience and willingness to work with youth and diverse audiences, the ability to collaborate with partner schools and community-based organizations, strong community organizing skills, and the ability to work long hours and adapt to changing responsibilities. The Nutrition Education Coordinator reports to the Director of Urban Agriculture.
